Summary and Conclusions

In recent decades, extensive research, encompassing both numerical and experimental methods, has been conducted to enhance our understanding of vibration isolation systems through the use of trenches. A primary focus of these studies has been on rectangular trenches, with only a limited exploration into the use of expanded polystyrene (EPS) geofoam as a soft barrier alternative.
