In science, a wave is defined as a disturbance involving the transfer of energy from one place to another. A wave requires a medium to travel. For instance, air is a medium for travelling sound waves. The simplest form of vibratory motion is harmonic or sinusoidal motion that can be described mathematically by Eq. (2.1) [114].
