Lasse Scharpen, co-executive producer of the ZDF subsidiary Studio Zentral, led the production team of the transmedia youth drama DRUCK (G 2018–, ZDF/Funk) until 2019. As a producer at Bantry Bay, a production company specializing in television fiction, he was also responsible for the Vox family drama Das Wichtigste im Leben (“The Most Important Thing in Life”, G 2019) and SOKO Potsdam (Leipzig Homicide, G2018–, ZDF), a spin-off of the popular SOKO crime procedural. While still a student at the Film University Babelsberg KONRAD WOLF, Scharpen founded a production company with which he made six feature films, including the coming-of-age drama Retablo (Peru/G/Norway 2017) set in Peru. His experience in the arthouse film sector also influenced his work on DRUCK, as the series is made on a relatively low budget and with a small team of young talent. The interview focuses on the production process, especially the adaptation of SKAM (Norway 2015–2017, NRK) and the integration of social media in different production phases, as well as on current Teen TV from Germany.
