Concept of Space

  • Mario H. Kraus

摘要

Whatever the future holds—human, earthbound existence remains shaped by gravity and objectivity, which also influences the soul and mind: The “roof over the head” covers a part of the earth’s surface, the human body has spatial dimensions, a building, a plot of land or a settlement have certain dimensions as well. Perception and thinking are thus inevitably shaped by spatiality and limitation. A suitable approach to the study of spatial living conditions is therefore the phenomenology (Greek. phainomenon, lat. phaenomenon, the appearing, the appearance), a humanities approach that tries to understand the lifeworlds based on the observable phenomena.
