Discussion

Each of the publications in this thesis sheds light on a different aspect of the nett.werkzeug project, on interventionist participatory research and design engagements and on the role of care. In the discussion I will disentangle the various strands and focus the analysis on the role of care for participatory design engagements in the context of migration and arrival. I will firstly try to briefly point out what ‘care’ means for the various involved actors. I will then go on to shed light on what care can do for design interventions into matters of care, as well as the difficulties it creates and makes visible. Lastly, I will speculate on how the tensions highlighted above might be addressed or worked with.
