European Labour Mobility in Uncertain Times

In this final chapter, the central findings of the book are summarized and a look is taken at the future of cross-border labour mobility in Europe. It is argued that intra-European mobility will remain the dominant form of employment-related migration in the enlarged EU, even in a post-pandemic era. However, since the boundaries of the European mobility space are variable, it is conceivable that these could change further in the coming years with regard to EU accession of the Western Balkans or even regarding a possible membership of war-torn Ukraine.
