Introduction
摘要
This chapter provides an overview of the central themes of the book. It points towards the emergence of a new transnational mobility space in the EU which facilitates cross-border movements and entry into the labour market. This was particularly evident in the 21st century, when the EU enlargement process triggered a new dynamic of labour migration. This mobility not only served a demand for skilled and less skilled workers, but was also accompanied by concerns about compliance with labour standards. Thus, intra-European migration illustrates the challenges associated with a transnational mobility space that is characterized by significant inequalities.
