Context: A Brief History of Tunisia’s Political Economy

This chapter summarizes the literature on the history of Tunisia’s economic policies. It assesses Tunisia’s economy as dependent as well as uneven and combined and argues that this is the result of the contradictions and limits of governments’ decade-long efforts to establish legitimacy.
