The Balancing Act between Partnership, Motherhood, and Career

The choice of partner and the importance women attach to their motherhood are not only career killers or career boosters, but are also directly related to the development of their self-esteem and how women thereby entangle themselves in role assignments and get stuck in them. Behind this are deep-seated feelings of guilt, fear, and shame that strictly regulate the women: The role assigned to them must be fulfilled, from the compliant partner to the supermother. Any deviation from the role could, in their view, lead to a negative consequence.
