Wenn nicht alles täuscht, wird die Entwicklung der arabischen Staaten im globalen Wettbewerb langfristig davon abhängen, ob es ihnen gelingt, Wissen zu schaffen, zu akkumulieren und produktiv einzusetzen. „Knowledge is recognised as a cornerstone of human development, a means of expanding people’s capabilities […]. In the 21st century, knowledge is also increasingly a dynamic factor of production and a powerful driver of productivity and human capital countries with deficient knowledge capabilities have much to gain by moving towards the ‘knowledge society’“ (UNDP, 2003, 15).
