What Measures and Strategies Should Be Considered When Dealing with Bullying?

The issue of bullying in schools is characterised by a high degree of complexity. A standardized approach, which always provides the same measures for prevention in emerging bullying situations and the same strategies for intervention in already manifested bullying cases, is illusory in view of the number of influencing factors, the different group dynamics, the diverse bullying situation as well as the different level of knowledge of the involved group of people. The chapter gives the reader an insight into the general strategies and measures for dealing with bullying in schools. When introducing measures against bullying, there are a number of starting points which need to be considered and should be applied depending on the situation. This is where components of the many established and validated prevention and intervention programmes come into play, with case-specific features ultimately determining the choice of appropriate programmes.
