Fact-Checking Initiatives in Different Political-Media Contexts

This final step of the analysis seeks to develop a better understanding of the emergence of different types of fact-checking initiatives in terms of the respective institutional logics which they invoke. This endeavor rests on two fundamental assumptions. It assumes that the national political-media context triggers specific logics of political fact-checking by: (a) appealing as an idea to different social groups to varying degrees; and (b) favoring certain rationales regarding their legitimacy in more general terms.
