Thermal Machines

This chapter deals with tasks on ideal as well as real thermal machines. With power machines, thermal energy is partially converted into mechanical energy; with working machines, thermal energy present at a lower temperature is converted into thermal energy present at a higher temperature with the help of mechanical energy. With the help of suitable state variables and balances, single-stage and multi-stage compression and expansion processes in ideal and real flow and displacement machines are considered in tasks.
