Neopragmatic Synthesis

Before we start Chap. 5, we turn to the relationships between landscape (first, Landscape 1) and the extraction, transportation, and processing of petroleum as well as the use and consumption of petroleum products, we synthesize the considerations made so far on neopragmatic approaches to landscape, aisthesis, and aesthetics. This synthesis provides the theoretical starting point for further investigation. They also constitute the considerations of a neopragmatic aesthetics of representation made in this chapter, which in turn formulate design principles for the (often cartographic) representations in this book.
