Contingent Oilscapes—Of Aesthetic Redescriptions and Inverted Landscapes

In this chapter we will turn to the topic of contingency and landscape in general, and of oilscapes in particular. Here we will turn to L-oilscapes as fictional landscape syntheses and construct inverse landscapes. Contingent and inverse landscapes differ in their degree of abstractness: Contingent landscapes can be understood as landscapes that are neither necessarily to be found this way nor impossible.
