Authenticity of Learning and Assessment in Teacher Education: Opportunities and Challenges Within CONTESSA Online Modules

Teacher education needs to be implemented strategically. Providing teachers with both a theoretical basis and authentic practical skills is particularly important. Teacher education curriculum and assessment strategies should be intended to prepare teachers for the challenges in real classrooms. Therefore, enhancing the authenticity of learning and assessment in teacher education should be of paramount importance. Five modules have been introduced through the CONTESSA project to empower primary school teachers. These modules are interactive including theoretical and hands-on exercises designed to develop a competent teacher. The chapter attempts to critically analyze the authenticity of learning and assessment strategies that are organized in the CONTESSA primary teacher education modules would contribute to the development of authentic professional knowledge, skills, and dispositions of a teacher.
