Why Learn Programming?

In this chapter, we take a closer look at why you should bother with programming at all. Isn’t it enough to have a few professional software developers do it? Isn’t it something that my company’s IT department does, but that I, as a commercial employee, don’t have to deal with at all? Besides such questions, in this chapter we will look at some prejudices and clichés that are often associated with programmers and programming as such, but which are fundamentally wrong.
