The Discursive Negotiation of ‘Welcome Culture’ in Germany Using the Example of “Welcome to Germany”

  • David Stiller

摘要

This article takes up the topic of flight and migration and examines the negotiation of “welcome culture” and the subject positions contained therein using the film example “Welcome to the Hartmanns” (2016). The phenomenon of “welcome culture” is examined through the research perspective of critical race theory: How does (everyday) racism manifest itself in “welcome culture”? The discourse-analytical approach to film analysis points to the intertwining of film and social reality. In the empirical part, four subject positions in the “welcome culture” are elaborated on the basis of the film analysis: “refugee”, “helper”, “sceptic” and “racist positioning”.
