Coordinating: The Art of Mediation and Negotiation

The forms of monitoring urban development processes and dealing with urban complexity that we outline in this book follow a particular understanding of control and governance. We give further explanations about this in the next two subsections (cf. Sects. 5.1 and 5.2). In Sect. 5.3, we present the forms of co-operation that occur in cities and link these to the previously discussed forms of control. Section 5.4 provides concrete recommendations about what to look out for when managing change processes in municipalities.
