Glass and their Photoelastic Behaviour
摘要
This chapter describes the material glass based on its structural and optical properties. In the beginning, the typical building products are briefly introduced. By describing the manufacturing process of tempered glass, the reader is shown how residual stresses are induced and how glass behaves optically under stress. Here, the photoelastic behavior of glass is examined in detail and the effect of anisotropy on visual perceptibility is shown. Most of the containing information can be found in several textbooks (Bucak and Schuler (2008), Schneider et al. (2016), Feldmann et al. (2012a), Siebert and Maniatis (2009), Le Bourhis (2006), Aben and Guillemet (1993)), papers (Dix et al. (2021a), Dix et al. (2021b), Nielsen et al. (2021), Dix et al.
