Basics of Building Sound Insulation in Connection with WPCs

  • Daniel Friedrich

摘要

Chapter 4 deals with airborne and structure-borne sound insulation in buildings. The basics of sound propagation are first discussed and the standardised verification procedure is presented. Airborne sound insulation is explained using the example of interior wall and ceiling constructions, and exemplary calculations demonstrate the difference to an existing facing shell made of WPC panels. External noise protection is considered in a similar way, with WPC revealing its sound insulation potential as a ventilated rainscreen façade. In this context, the current state of research literature in connection with this innovative material is also analysed. This is followed by an in-depth look at impact sound reduction, in which WPC is also taken into account as a floor covering material during the calculations. The chapter contains specific design examples for optimised structural sound insulation and concludes with repetition and exercise tasks.
