Vision and Maturity Model for Digitized Project Management

Project management software has been a standard tool in projects for years. Current software solutions focus primarily on planning and progress control in projects as well as communication between project stakeholders. However, digitization enables further advanced applicationsDigitizationapplications, e.g. through machine learning. This makes it possible to better support decisions in projects or to automate activities of project managers. Two examples are the tailoring of the project management method and automated scenario planning. Accordingly, this paper draws the vision of a digitized project management, which in particular uses machine learning methods and goes far beyond the currently widespread use of digital toolsTools. In order to make this vision tangible and to show ways to achieve it, the maturity model M2DIPMaturity modelM2DIP is presented. This maturity model enables both the determination of one’s own position and the derivation of a development path for digitalized project management.
