The Future of Work

Most people still live in a working society. Several experts have forecast that digitalization will result in machines or algorithms replacing parts of human work, however these projections vary in the extent of their impact. And yet, when it comes to digitalization, new technologies are not the only factor of digitalization determining the future of work. Other influencing factors include positive or negative guidelines for the use of technology, differentiated in each case for industrial and craft enterprises and politics, new forms of organisation and employment; and various possibilities for the participation of trade unions and employees. The future of work can also be explored through the lens of science fiction literature, which can inspire enthusiasm for the topic of the future of work on a personal level, perhaps despite all the fears and contradictions.
