Micronutrients

Micronutrients consist of vitamins and minerals. Micronutrients are required by the body to assist in many physiological processes within the body. They are important for functions such as glucose, fat, and protein metabolism. If deficient in any of the micronutrients, the body’s processes may not function optimally. This may be even more exacerbated during exercise. The purpose of this section is to provide an overview of vitamin and mineral metabolism with respect to athletic performance.
