Jüdische mittelalterliche Religionsphilosophie

  • Ze’ev Strauss

摘要

This chapter provides an overview of the dissemination of Plotinian thought in medieval Jewish philosophy. By focusing on three well-known Jewish thinkers, Isaac Israeli (ca. 855–955), Solomon ibn Gabirol (1020/21–1058), and Moses Maimonides (1135/38–1204), the chapter discerns the crucial position which Plotinus’ metaphysics of the One and some of its premises occupy in medieval Jewish philosophy and its efforts to rationally account for its ancient monotheistic tradition.
