Plotin in arabischer Übersetzung
摘要
This chapter provides an overview of the reception of Plotinus' work in the Islamic world, beginning with its translation into Arabic in the Kindī circle in the ninth century. After a presentation of the complex philological situation of this Arabic version, which is extant incompletely and in several texts that were transmitted separately, the chapter moves on to consider the philosophical themes woven into the Arabic version in the course of the adaptive translation. Finally the impact of the Arabic Plotinus on later philosophers in the Islamic world is considered, including al-Fārābī, Miskawayh, and Avicenna.
