Unendlichkeit

The theme of this chapter is the notion of infinity in Plotinus. The presentation comprises two main parts: negative infinity in the sense of infinite divisibility and positive infinity in the sense of totality and power. In the first part, this concept is dealt with through the analysis of sensible extension and sensible number, whose infinity is due to sensible matter. In the second part, positive infinity is expounded with regard to the infinity of Intellect and that of the One.
