Individualität

Plotinus devotes a special treatise to the topic of the presence of individuality in the intelligible world (V 7 [18]), but in the Enneads numerous further reflections and observations dedicated to this issue can be found (especially V 9 [5]). It is not easy to reconstruct his position, because he rarely expresses himself directly, but it can be argued that in comparison to his predecessors, Plotinus proposes to expand the presence of individuality in the intelligible world, since it is not limited to universal entities alone, but also somehow includes individual entities (souls, the rational principles of individuals, etc.). Indeed, according to Plotinus, the existence of a universal intelligible principle is not sufficient to explain individual realities, which also require the admission of individual intelligible principles.
