Pacifist Anti-War Films of the Pre-Fascist Era
摘要
Reconstructing dimensions of the media network constituted by adaptations of Remarque’s novel Im Westen nichts Neues (1929), this contribution focuses on Milestone’s film adaptation (USA, 1930). A comparison of novel and film, including narratological and aesthetic aspects, is followed by an analysis of two other so-called anti-war films, German productions of the same time, and a modern graphic novel.
