The history of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), also known as drones, can be traced back to the nineteenth century, when they were used for military purposes. Nowadays, their production is warranted in various fields: commercial, entertainment, research, filming, photography, monitoring climate change, delivery, aiding search and rescue operations. However, the rapid growth and advancements in drone technology present more and more challenges in terms of occupational health and safety. Common healthcare issues are repetitive strain injury, respiratory problems, chemical exposure, noise-induced hearing loss, and eye injuries. A growing concern is the dermatological conditions that can occur in relation to the manufacturing process. Mishandling or accidental exposure to hazardous substances can result in chemical burns. Occupational dermatoses are sometimes easily overlooked or hard to recognize. Workers who handle adhesives, paints, metals, plastics, or solvents may develop occupational dermatitis—a skin condition that results from exposure to substances causing skin irritation or allergic reactions. It is important to research and collect data in this area because, as the drone industry blossoms, more dermatological problems will arise. Proper safety measures, including personal protective equipment, training, and adherence to occupational health guidelines, are crucial in limiting related risks and promoting a safe working environment within the industry.
