Treatment of Chronic Extensor Mechanism Failure with Patellar Transport Using a Precice Nail Followed by Extensor Mechanism Reconstruction

A case report of a 34-year-old male with posttraumatic chronic patellar tendon rupture with multiple failed attempts of reconstruction including a medial gastrocnemius muscle transfer with skin graft resulting in scarring and retraction of the quadriceps tendon. Staged reconstruction was planned, with the first stage involving distal patellar transport using a Precice nail, followed by reconstruction of the extensor mechanism using a hamstring allograft.
