Automating Points Allocation in Sports: A Badminton Case Study for Feasibility Assessment
摘要
The objective of this paper is to develop an automated scoring system initially focused on badminton, with the intention of assessing its adaptability to other sports. The primary goal is to create a tool that reduces reliance on human intervention, thereby minimizing the need for referees. The system aims to address and resolve disputes over referee decisions by providing a fair and efficient method of assigning points. The current focus of the research involves evaluating the effectiveness of automatic scoring in badminton and extracting insights that can be applied to various sports. Specifically, the aim is to determine whether this technology can significantly decrease dependence on human officials. The system’s capabilities are tested to handle different situations in badminton and other sports while optimizing resource utilization. An essential aspect of the investigation is to explore whether this automated scoring system can serve as a viable replacement for human referees across a spectrum of sports. This study is dedicated to examining the practicality and utility of this new technology in scorekeeping, aiming to provide a comprehensive understanding of its potential applications in diverse sporting environments. This research seeks to contribute valuable insights into the development of automated scoring systems and their role in improving the efficiency and fairness of sports officiating.
