This chapter discusses the importance of a good patent attorney, key steps in the general patent engagement process and insights from patent attorneys with respect to approaches and needs that may be gender specific. “Good” patent attorneys are defined as those that are supportive, technically competent and able to assist in decomposing and extracting patentable ideas from you. A general patent engagement process is provided to provide you with an expected framework for engagement. Patent attorneys provide their gender-specific insights with inventors in the patenting process.
