AI-Driven Business Process Composition for Enterprise Information Exchange Within IE-BSE Framework: An Empirical Case Analysis on E-invoicing
摘要
Digitalization in supply chains has enabled the use of API-centric business services, enhancing workflow management as companies embrace digital transformation. However, API adoption is often hindered by internal organizational issues, complicating the identification and integration of suitable APIs. To tackle these challenges, the research article proposes the Information Exchange Business Service Ecosystem (IE-BSE) framework with an interactive method to understand user requirements accurately, which aids enterprises in leveraging publicly available APIs for document exchange. This framework includes a service discovery technique for identifying suitable APIs and a Business Process Builder tool for composing relevant business APIs, supported by a Knowledge Hub for E-invoicing APIs (KHEA), streamlining complex business processes. The BP-Builder uses pre-trained AI Agents and initiates an interactive method by enabling users to interact and ask questions to find the best suitable business APIs. Results ascertain potential accurate business processes, including several APIs, and allow the choice of a specific BP where Amazon Web Services (AWS) Step Functions creates automated business workflows.
