Advancing Healthcare through Medical Informatics: Bridging Technology and Patient Care
摘要
Medical Informatics is changing the way modern healthcare is conducted by enhancing the facets of storing and managing healthcare information. Health-related processes and services are enriched by this scientific field as a result of the information received, stored and deployed. Among the constituents, it is necessary to highlight EHRs (electronic health record), such as HIS (health information systems), and analytics of data-enabled decision-making, including adapting and individualizing appropriate information. The technology also has significant applications in artificial intelligence, telemedicine, and wearables in order to elicit patient engagement, patient safety, and easy access to care. Medical informatics has been changing a lot since it was a simple approach of data management but nowadays it is expanded to more complex systems, which assist in clinical decision and predictive analytics. It would however appear that even with such developments, there would still be issues as far as interoperability, data security and technology adoption remain issues. All this profound development through promise of future and policies, standardization and education are a direct by-product of a more efficient health care system that is patient centered. The article has explained the paradigm shifts caused by medical informatics in the provision of health. The author names the following technologies in this category; EHR and Decision Support Systems (DSS) and the latest new tool, predictive analytics, that enhances patient care and contributes to the decrease in the number of hospital readmissions. Improvement of chronic disease care can be achieved and lower the medication errors at the same time. The clinical-patient outcome gap in healthcare with medical informatics development further increases the shortcomings in quality of healthcare and efficiency and improves the predictive intervention of proactive patients and streamlines the work of healthcare processes on the basis of the data-driven insights.
