In this chapter we focus on how to conduct a pay equity analysis for staff. Although the general approach to the study is the same as for faculty, there are some important differences—and challenges—that need to be addressed. By far the biggest challenge in pay equity studies for staff is how to account for the wide variety of jobs that they perform. This chapter follows a similar structure as Chap. 7. The chapter first discusses who should be included in the study, followed by the types of variables that would be appropriate for staff. Data on staff at an institution are then used to illustrate how a pay equity study for them could be conducted.
