In this final chapter, we return to the wider purposes of our collaboration and the aspiration we held that our book might offer a contribution to language education policy and practice within the Sri Lankan setting, and by extension into reconciliation and peacebuilding processes. In presenting the outcomes of the data collection research in the preceding chapters, we make extensive commentary about the implications for Sri Lankan language education, and this won’t be repeated here; here we focus on the implications of our overall study for the country’s language policy formulation, its goals and implementation processes. Moreover, in the last section of the present chapter, we draw some lessons and implications of our work for the wider process of reconciliation and peacebuilding within the country.
