The Relationship Between Emotional Level, Cognitive Performance and EEG Spectral Power
摘要
This study investigates the relationship between emotional level, cognitive performance and power spectral density (PSD) of EEG waves in a sample of 50 participants. Emotional and cognitive levels were measured using standardized scales, and brain activity was recorded with electrodes positioned according to the international 10–20 system (Fz, C3, Cz, C4, Pz, PO7, Oz, PO8). DSP analysis targeted the Delta, Theta, Alpha, Beta and Gamma bands. The results show that high emotional levels are associated with increased activity in the Delta and Theta bands, while high cognitive levels correlate with higher spectral power in Beta and Gamma and lower in Theta. The conclusions suggest distinct neurophysiological profiles for emotion and cognition, but with significant interactions, supporting the hypothesis of a neural integration between affective and cognitive processes.
