General Introduction
摘要
This chapter presents what the book is about apropos the purpose, objective, and major question that undergird it. It also provides detailed conceptualizations of sociology (i.e., the study of the development, structure and functioning of human society, and also social problems) vis-à-vis the general discipline and its African-centered variety (i.e., a worldview that situates Africa and its people in the continent and the Diaspora at the core of analysis and understanding, especially in the milieu of their culture, experiences, and history of the same preceding phenomena). In addition, the chapter discusses the essence of the book and what the chapters that follow entail. But before doing all that, it behooves us to end this section with a description of the state of knowledge on African sociology.
