This paper is based on a survey of 178 Technology Firms from five continents on AI deployments used to produce goods and services. It examines the project success rates, types of AI deployment, motivation for AI deployments, skills impact on the workforce and the impact on number of employees from production workers to supervisory workers. We found that 48% of technology firms have deployed AI. However the project success rate is relatively low at only 58%. The most common AI deployments were of generative AI, followed by text analysis and machine learning. We also found that after AI deployments there were an overall 4% workforce reduction due to reduced number of production workers, while STEM skills of the workforce increase by 29%.
