Different dynamics inherent to the 21st-century city collectively converge into a theoretical matrix aimed at rethinking contemporary systems for urban centers, their pre-existing structures and respective communities. As a result, a multifunctional modular system emerges, conceived as a utopian possibility applicable anywhere and generating diverse elements, components and typologies. On a generic and site-independent level, the cubic module is proposed as the most fundamental framework. In its experimental stage, potential aggregations are adapted to the specific context. In Beato, near the former Military Maintenance area, ruptures and discontinuities persist between the religious and residential fabric, the industrialized landfill and access to the riverside, occupied by the Port of Lisbon. 摘要

This fragmented territory in Eastern Lisbon, defined by urban voids, is selected as a case study where the modules are applied and tested in practice. Mediating between speculative exploration and site-specific transformation, the project investigates the utopian potential of modularity through contextual adaptation, particularly within Lisbon’s evolving urban landscape.
