Healthy aging poses substantive challenges to health systems and nursing practice, calling for innovative responses that strengthen autonomy, functional capacity, and well-being. It is a process that begins well before old age, with adulthood representing a key phase for preventive interventions. This article synthesizes the integration of assistive technology and self-care, drawing on evidence from a systematic review of nursing interventions in middle-aged adults. Assistive technologies—including mobile applications, digital platforms, telerehabilitation, and wearable devices—show potential to support self-management of health, foster healthy behaviors, and improve physical and psychological outcomes. Overall, interventions that included professional support and/or interactive feedback were more effective than exclusively self-directed approaches, underscoring the roles of personalization, digital health literacy, and the therapeutic relationship. We conclude that aligning technology, health education, and active engagement is central to sustaining autonomy and promoting active, healthy aging.

摘要
