Gender Equity in Organizations: Women’s Leadership in the Industrial Sector
摘要
Despite the progress made toward achieving gender equity, the persistence of systemic disparities and discrimination highlights the urgent need to address female leadership in a critical and proactive manner. Women’s representation in leadership roles and the reduction of opportunity inequalities are not only ethical imperatives but also essential for organizational, social, and economic advancement. This chapter aims to contribute to the discussion by examining the opportunities and challenges of women’s full and equal participation at all organizational levels, acknowledging their significance in current and future management and leadership contexts. To this end, the chapter offers a critical analysis of strategies and practices aimed at developing women as leaders and promoting gender equity within organizations. It features a case study detailing the career trajectory of a woman in a leadership position in the industrial sector, addressing issues at the micro (individual), meso (organizational), and macro (social) levels that influence the development of female leadership and gender equity. Key questions are raised, including how to overcome organizational barriers to women’s participation and leadership, which practices can encourage women to pursue and sustain leadership positions, and the challenges women face when assuming leadership roles.
