The Role of Biomarkers
摘要
Maternal biomarkers have been implicated in the prediction of preterm birth (PTB), with various studies underscoring their potential significance. Systematic reviews are indispensable to evidence-based healthcare, offering the highest tier of evidence to inform clinical decision-making [1]. However, the limited sample sizes, variability in inclusion criteria, discrepancies in gestational age at assessment, and inconsistencies in outcome definitions have obstructed a comprehensive quantification of the predictive capabilities of these biomarkers in relation to PTB. This chapter endeavors to synthesize evidence from multiple investigations, thereby providing a concise overview of the current understanding regarding the role of maternal biomarkers in predicting preterm birth.
