The global economic order is changing drastically and is undergoing unprecedented changes. In order to respond to them and the resulting current global trade turmoil, the EU has adopted several new legal instruments, of which the Foreign Subsidies Regulation (FSR) is not only part, but is the instrument that has been applied the most (in contrast, the Anticoercion Instrument, the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism and the amendments to the Trade Enforcement Regulation still await their first implementation). Subject of this volume, therefore, is the exploration of the first implementation experiences after around two years of application of the FSR. This introduction has the aim to set the scene and present the reader with a brief introduction into the FSR, its contents and rationale and the resulting issues for its implementation. It will also introduce the reader into the sequence of the book’s analysis of the current prospects and challenges of implementing the FSR and address the approaches taken in the volume. Finally, the contributions to this volume will briefly be outlined.

摘要
