The ways in which artificial intelligence (AI) can be utilized in and for coaching are determined by two key factors: the internal properties of the AI systems used and the external tasks assigned to them by coachees and/or coaches. For the professional application of AI in coaching, this implies two core requirements: first, the development of AI agents equipped with coaching-relevant capabilities, and second, the professional optimization of their usage through external prompt scripts—that is, sequences of preformulated prompts grounded in established coaching methodologies. In this sense, the following contribution focuses, on the one hand, on AI agents equipped with coaching-diagnostic problem-solving knowledge, and on the other hand, on the necessity that this knowledge can only be activated through systematically structured task sequences (prompt scripts) based on coaching methodology.
