The Patient Care Evaluation Programme (PEP)—An Introduction of the Scientific Concept
摘要
The programme presented here serves to evaluate the standard of care for patients treated with traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and comprises several components. The study evaluates the standard of care for psychosomatic patients in the first German TCM hospital. The following presentation provides an overview of patient treatment in 2023. The Patient Care Evaluation Programme (PEP) is based on a concept that integrates quality assurance, clinical research, and patient-centred self-monitoring. The programme is supported by a web portal. The quality profiles created for the hospital’s structures, processes, and results are intended to promote transparency, trust, and confidence in its services. Real-world data demonstrate the effectiveness and safety of inpatient treatment in routine clinical practice. On this basis, decisions can be made by patients about admission to the clinic, referrals by doctors, and cost coverage by health insurance companies. In addition, the documentation of behaviour, attitudes, and findings before and after interventions is intended not only to support health research, but also to accompany patients in their transition to a healthy lifestyle through systematic feedback. Controlled studies can complement PEP to provide robust evidence. The introductory chapter provides an overview of the historical development of PEP, the measurement parameters recorded, scientific and methodological aspects, and the reference data already available at the TCM-Klinik in Bad Kötzting. Finally, the type and quality of the data examined in 2023 and the statistical approach will be presented.
