Conclusion: Reorienting Education in a Warming World
摘要
This concluding chapter synthesizes what the book has shown in response to three sets of questions and sketches what it would mean to act on that knowledge: 1) Conceptualization. How should we understand the relationshipbetween education and climate change? In what ways are they interdependent systems? How do different narratives, climate literacy, education for climate action, green-skills agendas, education for sustainable development, critical and decolonial approaches, frame education's role? 2) Practice. How do these aims translate into national systems, informal networks, schools, classrooms, and ultimately, student outcomes? In other words, what is being done, and what evidence do we have of effects on learning, behavior, policy and climate outcomes? 3) Gaps and opportunities. Where are the mismatches between ambitions and reality? Who and what are neglected? What opportunities exist to align education systems more closely with the demands of a rapidly warming world?
