Around the world, youth are often portrayed as the generation that will lead the fight against climate change. Yet, beneath this narrative lies a crucial question: what do students actually know about climate change? Relatedly, what should they be taught? And how? This chapter examines the global state of students’ knowledge, attitudes, and engagement with climate change. It then explores what kind of educational experiences improve understanding and motivation, highlighting both the challenge and progress in building climate literacy. The final section synthesizes frameworks on what and how to teach about climate change, integrating insights from the gaps identified earlier to offer a practical foundation for strengthening climate literacy.

摘要

Around the world, youth are often portrayed as the generation that will lead the fight against climate change. Yet, beneath this narrative lies a crucial question: what do students actually know about climate change? Relatedly, what should they be taught?
