Conclusions and Future Directions
摘要
This final chapter summarizes some of the key points of asexuality and considers where we should go from here in terms of research, theory, and clinical direction. I highlight the importance of deconstructing expectations when it comes to desire, intimacy, and relationships in ways that are celebratory toward all ways that humans connect. I challenge previously set norms and biases around what is considered healthy when it comes to sexual relationships and romantic relationships. I present a discussion for how we can continue to embrace discourse around what it means to be a family in ways that can integrate multiple perspectives and experiences. Finally, I present my own visions for how to continue to work toward embracing asexuality through research, clinical work, and education.
